Relocating roller racking in Wells and the Mendip district
Wells is a tight, historic city centre and that shapes every relocation here. Vehicle access around the Market Place, Chamberlain Street and the Cathedral Green is restricted by loading windows and narrow approaches, so we normally arrive with a 7.5-tonne vehicle rather than an artic and shuttle components in. Diocesan and cathedral-related archives, solicitors on Broad Street, and Mendip-area council record stores make up most of the mobile shelving we lift and re-lay locally.
Older Wells buildings frequently have suspended timber or uneven flagstone floors under existing systems, so we take sub-floor levels at survey and allow for shimming or self-levelling compound before the tracks go back down. Weekend and evening working is standard where reading rooms or public counters cannot close during the week.
