The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 don't stop at the day the system is installed. A relocation resets the compliance clock โ and your evidence trail must reflect that.
What PUWER requires after relocation
- A documented post-installation inspection by a competent person
- Verification that all guards, brakes, anti-tip and end-stops function as designed
- Confirmation of track levelness within manufacturer tolerance
- A written certificate of inspection retained by the duty-holder
- Inclusion in the site's ongoing inspection schedule (typically 12-monthly)
Documents to keep on file
- Pre-move condition survey โ proof the system was working when dismantled
- RAMS โ method statement and risk assessment for the move
- Component-label register โ sequencing of dismantle and reinstall
- Track-level test sheet โ point-by-point sub-floor readings
- Brake and anti-tip test record
- PUWER certificate โ signed by a SEMA-approved inspector
Common compliance failures we see
Non-specialist removal firms sometimes reinstall a system, take photographs and call it done. PUWER demands the inspection happens โ with a competent assessor โ and the certificate is retained. Without it, employer's-liability insurers can decline a claim.
What we include as standard
Every relocation we deliver finishes with a written PUWER inspection report, signed by a SEMA-approved inspector, emailed within five working days and lodged with the duty-holder.
