Mobile Shelving Relocation Risk Assessments: A Template Walkthrough

20 April 2026 ยท 8 min read

A compliant Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) pack is the single most useful document any client receives from a relocation contractor. Here is what should be inside.

Section 1 โ€” Project context

  • Site addresses, floor levels, postcodes
  • Named project manager and operatives
  • Working hours and exclusion zones

Section 2 โ€” Identified hazards

  • Manual handling of carriages, decks and end panels
  • Working at height (top deck removal)
  • Slips, trips on lifted tracks
  • Dust exposure
  • Mechanical pinch points (carriages, brakes)
  • Floor loading during transit
  • Vehicle movement at loading bay

Section 3 โ€” Controls applied

For every hazard, the document records the engineering control, PPE requirement and supervisor verification step. Each operative signs the brief before work starts.

Section 4 โ€” Emergency procedures

  • First-aider on site
  • Nearest A&E
  • Reporting procedure (RIDDOR)
  • Site evacuation route confirmed with the duty holder

Section 5 โ€” Sign-off & retention

Signed by the project manager, the client representative and retained for 6 years. We supply this pack as standard with every project โ€” no add-on cost.
